My manager just seems to live in a permanent bad mood, you know? But there’s this one thing he does that just drives me absolutely nuts.
It’s the “Friday Afternoon Ambush.”
See, every single week, like clockwork, Friday rolls around. I’m finally starting to relax, thinking about the weekend, wrapping up my tasks. Then, around 4:30 PM, just when I’m about to log off, I get this ping.
It’s an email from Dave. And it’s never a “Hey, great job this week, have a good one!” Nope. It’s always a long, messy list of “urgent” questions and “critical” feedback on a project I sent him on, like, Tuesday. Stuff he’s had all week to look at.
The first time it happened, I figured, “Okay, he’s just busy.” So I spent my Friday night answering his questions. But then it happened the next Friday. And the Friday after that.
Now I know it’s a pattern. He just sits on my work for days and then dumps it all on me at the very last minute. It completely kills my weekend vibe. I spend the whole time stressed, checking my phone, thinking about that stupid list.
I’ve tried sending him things on a Monday, thinking that’ll help. Nope. It still comes back Friday at 4:30. I feel like I can’t ever truly relax or disconnect, you know? It’s like he’s this little rain cloud that follows me home every single Friday. Just one of those things that makes a job way harder than it needs to be.
