I can’t believe these people

It’s unbelievable, the absolute garbage that comes out of their mouths. I mean, I work with these people, day in and day out, and they *still* manage to twist the simplest things into some grotesque caricature of reality.

Take last week, for example. I was five minutes late because the train was delayed – a fact easily verifiable by checking the MTA app, which I even showed to Janet, the self-appointed timekeeper of our department. But did that stop the whispers? Oh, absolutely not. By lunchtime, the story had morphed into me swanning in half an hour late, reeking of expensive champagne and claiming I’d been having brunch with the CEO. Brunch with the CEO! I haven’t even *seen* the CEO, let alone shared a mimosa with him.

It’s like they deliberately try to paint me as some kind of entitled social climber. They’re just jealous, obviously. Jealous that I can pull off a power blazer, jealous of my effortless charm, jealous that I can get away with wearing red lipstick on a Tuesday.

And then there’s the incident with the project proposal. I spent *weeks* on that thing, painstakingly researching, meticulously crafting every sentence. But when it came time to present, Matt, the slimy little weasel, swooped in and took all the credit. Claimed it was his “vision,” his “brainchild.” He even had the audacity to rephrase a few of my key points, slightly worse, might I add, and present them as his own. The nerve! And of course, everyone just lapped it up. Because apparently, Matt, with his ill-fitting suits and his penchant for motivational posters, is the epitome of leadership, while I’m just… there. Invisible. Until, of course, it’s time to blame someone for the coffee machine malfunctioning. Then suddenly, I’m front and center.

They’re like a pack of vultures, circling, waiting for me to make the smallest slip-up so they can pounce and distort it beyond all recognition. It’s exhausting. It’s infuriating. And frankly, I’m sick of it. They can keep their whispers and their lies. I know the truth. And sooner or later, everyone else will too. They always do.
