So, Joe is my coworker in the warehouse. Now, Joe is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet, but he’s also pretty naive. It’s almost like he’s in his own little world sometimes.

For example, the other day, Joe got this email that claimed he won a free vacation. You should’ve seen him—his eyes all lit up like he’d just won the lottery. He was already talking about how he’ll need someone to cover his shifts.

I tried to gently explain that these things are usually just scams, and that he should be careful with stuff like that. But Joe, being Joe, just nodded with a smile, saying he knew it sounded too good to be true—yet I could tell he was still half hoping it was real.

And then there’s how he always takes everything at face value. Like when one of the guys jokingly told him that the boss secretly loves people showing up extra early on Mondays. So there he is, every Monday morning, sitting in his car in the parking lot before the sun’s even up.

Honestly, you can’t help but feel a bit sorry for him. In a world where people are always looking out for themselves, Joe is just trying to see the best in everyone and everything. I guess, in a way, it’s nice that he hasn’t lost that about him in this job.

We all try to keep an eye on him, make sure he doesn’t get taken advantage of too much. It’s like having a little brother at work who you feel like you need to watch out for.
